TeuxDeux
A fond memory of Middle School I have is my Agenda. At the beginning of the year we’d receive an Agenda for keeping track of homework assignments and important events. There wasn’t anything too special about them. Your standard day planner with the days of the week laid out across two pages. We didn’t get these in High School, about the time I started becoming increasingly disorganized. It never occurred to me that the Agenda helped me keep all the shit in my head sorted.
Now that I am a “professional” (save your lady-of-the-evening type jokes) keeping my days sorted is f’n difficult! I fell in to this whole obsession of finding the right tool for helping me Get Things Done. Reading sites like Life Hacker and 43 Folders. Hanging on every word from Merlin Mann. Nothing ever seemed to pan out for too long. The solutions would be too difficult or they wouldn’t fit in my workflow. It felt hopeless. I didn’t know it yet, but I missed my Agenda from way back when.
Enter TeuxDeux — The simple, designy, browser-based to-do app.

I — Fucking — Love — This — App.
It is the wonderful result of a collab between studio mates Swiss Miss and Fictive Kin.
It’s exactly what I was looking for in a to-do app (and I’ve tried a lot! The Hit List, Things, Pen and Paper…)! Having my days laid out in basic columns, gives me a nice overview of the current week. I can go back to preview dates or forward to future dates to add stuff if desired. They don’t enforce, but encourage simplicity. If it’s taking you longer to write down your to-dos than to do them, something is wrong! I’ve been enjoying how light-weight and gorgeous it is. They’re even cranking out updates pretty quickly. One instance is when hovering over extended items, they would be crossed out (the default-hover state indicating that you want to mark the item as complete). Well this made reading the item difficult so they pushed an update just a few days later changing it. I love in the browser for the most part, and have made this my home page. It’s working out great.
Definitely give this is a go if you’re disorganized and spend a lot of time in or around the webs. Try it anyway, it’s free! GO DO IT! You’ll thank yourself later.
