On The Rain-Slick Precepice of Darkness
I’ve been playing On the Rain Slick-Precepice of Darkness and wanted to share some thoughts.
If you’re familiar with Penny-Arcade at all you will have a pretty good idea of what this game is like. The usual satirical humor makes its way in to most of the dialogue, as well as Gabe and Tycho’s buddy-film antics.
I won’t go into the story or summary of the game because those can by found on the Greenhouse Interactive website. It’s a kick back to the old click-through mystery games (Are You Afraid of the Dark circa 1995 anyone?) mixed with classic RPG turn base style combat.
Visually the game is pretty slick. It’s cell shaded and is of the same art style as the comics. I’d suggest buying the game for the graphics alone, or at least play through the demo.
I haven’t gotten too far in to it, but I’ve read it only last 5 hours. While very short for the cost ($19.99), it’s pretty entertaining from what I’ve played. From my first encounter with the “Fruit-Fuckers” I knew I was going to have a good time. Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s an episodic game. This is just the first of more stories to come.
If you’re looking for something fun to kill some extra time definitely consider this game.
